I can see how you made it GM now you say but you are clever seeing the potential when you found the leather. My DD is going on a leather course, just needs to find one, it was her birthday present.

Lucky DD! I would love that! I am going to try hand stitching leather next, as per YouTube.

Grauntie - good luck with the hand stitching. I recently bought a pack of assorted needles because mine were going rusty and there was a leather needle in the pack. It looked a fearsome weapon!

I shall wield two at a time Daisy, one back and one front, but first I think I need a special hole punch. I inherited a lot of sewing stuff from grandparents via parents and Aunts, I seem to have needles for every event, even sails!

That sounds interesting GM, nice to have a project. My Fil was a saddler and made some beautiful saddles and briefcases etc.

Cor! I would love to watch a saddler at work Plant. Thinking about it I probably could...DD1 has one at her yard every now and again. I will ask.

Mimi - Lady Bracknell's "A Handbag" came up as a question on the Chase this tea-time! In my head, Grauntie's clever creation has become Lady B's handbag now!

Grauntie - we still have sail needles from our days of dingy sailing - there always seemed to be bits that needed stitching back together, but OH used to do it, not me!

I don't understand how you can have one needle for the back and one for the front - don't the needles have to go through the leather, so the back comes to the front and visa versa?

I had a look on Utube Daisy after Grauntie mentioned two needles, it is worth a look, very clever.

                            Thanks, Plant - I'll have a look.

Grauntie - that's a narrow escape. It could have been a problem with a whacking big needle in your hands.
