Today I collected GS2 from his nursery at lunch time. This is a most rewarding task. He behaves as though have been to Australia for many months, his joy and delight is to be see to be believed

It was warm in my car so I put him in without his jacket. I adjusted the straps of his car seat accordingly.
Our journey home was a slow one as there are roadworks and temporary traffic lights. I handed GS a couple of little books and breadsticks to keep him amused. At one point he handed me back a book. It surprised me that he handed it to me instead of dropping it Then I realised that he shouldn't have been been able to hand me it! I looked around and he was sitting with the seat bet still fastened but off both shoulders
We were crawling along, stopping and starting in a queue many miles long. I couldn't get out to do anything about it as a massive lorry was right behind us. Luckily GS made no attempt to stand up, move or do anything to get out. I don't think he could have as he was still strapped around the waist, but knew he was in danger is we had to pull up suddenly however. Eventually once we got through the roadworks we had a short drive on a 60mph road, then a slow short drive along a 30 mph road until I was able to pull over and put him right! The top he was wearing today, although long sleeved, was very thin. Even though I tightened the straps, I didn't do them tightly enough.
I will double check next time, as something awful could have happened.
