    A good week for GD1

My GD1 loves school as always tries her best right across the board, and the school and her teacher are very good at acknowledging her hard work. Last week must have been a bit special, even by her standards as she won the Citizen of the Week as well as Class Star of the Week. Her teacher sent her a lovely postcard saying thank you for being a superb listener all the time.

GD1 was thrilled to bits, and I thought what a lovely way it was to encourage more of the same! It's lovely to see her doing so well - our family has no track record of 'star pupils'. LOL

I'm sure I'd have worked harder at primary school if we'd had any kind of encouragement like this.

She deserves all the praise she gets, for her hard work.

Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Marvelous Daisy. GD1 must be thrilled. Just the stickers my GS2 gets make him feel proud, so such an honour must be wonderful.
Like you, I don’t recall any encouragement whatsoever. More of the opposite for us ‘farm children’. 🙄

GM - I think a lot of us were 'written off' because of our backgrounds. I noticed it more at the Grammar school where there was probably more of a social mix. At primary school we were all from the same small area of the city.

Thank you ladies, for you lovely comments. As a family we marvel at GD1 - she just loves doing 'work' and is quite upset if she has no homework. Just lately she's 'into' earning pocket money. She goes to after-school clubs two afternoons a week and doesn't finish until 4.30, so she goes back to the shop with her mum and dad and they give her jobs to do - and pay her for her work - until the shop closes at 5 pm. She loves that and proudly tells me how much she's earned.
