    Being impressed by Grandma

My granddaughter is such a good girl. She adores her 13 month old baby brother. After being the only child for 6 and half years her life has changed in many ways but she only sees joy in him and never resents him.
Our time together has changed a lot, due to his needs when she gets in from school, so often she has to amuse herself. She just gets out some dolls, or a book, or paper and pens and is happy.

Yesterday was an example of that. GS plays well alone, but at that time of day often needs attention, and a bottle of milk! GD got out her pens and paper and spent some time drawing. She showed me the finished product. 3 beautifully drawn girls, their names above them. She then went to find a hardbacked note book and began to write a story about them. She plans a long one with many chapters!
She showed me the first page and asked if it made sense. I told her it was really good and that it was the sign of a good story when the reader wanted to know what would happen next. She looked pleased then said she didn't know what was going to happen next! I told her that it was like that when I write stories. That some people plan out the whole plot but I just begin and see what happens.
Look of surprise on GDs face. "You write stories Grandma??". I told her I do and that I have written some which I am going to print and give to her. She was impressed

Add to that GS1 being highly impressed hearing me sing a song from Frozen the other day, I'm doing well

Grandmas are a secret breed our Grandchildren don't expect us to do such things or know about things so when we come out with stories or singing they are surprised , J was playing Oasis Wonderwall on his guitar a few weeks ago and when I sang along he was thrilled I even knew who Oasis was never mind their songs , My DS was and is a great fan of them so I heard it constantly when he lived at home but J didn't know that , I'm a cool Nana anyway hahaha

Sometimes grandchildren are surprised at we know, and what we can do.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

So true Gem our interaction has to be changed when a new g/c arrives although we love them just the same our priorities have to change as the youngest needs more help but I know with my own twins that my eldest is a great help in fetching and carrying and amusing the little ones and loves to be with them

I was pleased yesterday to find that my DGS2 had continued the tradition of sitting GGD on his knee and singing nursery rhymes to her,she sat with me and did all the actions to 3/4 rhymes and though we had a few hits and misses as regard to body parts she did amazionally well for 15mths.DD and I had her for the full day and took her to Liverpool through the tunnel on the bus I was in charge of pram pushing (had a few near misses)the difference between the prices in the stores was a shock really Clarks Doodles £22 JLewis same shoe £18 and the shops are virtually opposite each other in Church Street,so guess where we went as Clarkes assistant would not match the cheaper price we used the £4.00 difference towards our lunch which certainly tasted sweeter with the saving

GS informed me last Summer that I REALLY was pretty good at tennis and cricket!! Little did he know how much pain I was in when he'd gone

What lovely tales of our fantastic grandchildren. It's true they never expect us grannies to be so talented!
