My granddaughter is such a good girl. She adores her 13 month old baby brother. After being the only child for 6 and half years her life has changed in many ways but she only sees joy in him and never resents him.
Our time together has changed a lot, due to his needs when she gets in from school, so often she has to amuse herself. She just gets out some dolls, or a book, or paper and pens and is happy.
Yesterday was an example of that. GS plays well alone, but at that time of day often needs attention, and a bottle of milk! GD got out her pens and paper and spent some time drawing. She showed me the finished product. 3 beautifully drawn girls, their names above them. She then went to find a hardbacked note book and began to write a story about them. She plans a long one with many chapters!
She showed me the first page and asked if it made sense. I told her it was really good and that it was the sign of a good story when the reader wanted to know what would happen next. She looked pleased then said she didn't know what was going to happen next! I told her that it was like that when I write stories. That some people plan out the whole plot but I just begin and see what happens.
Look of surprise on GDs face. "You write stories Grandma??". I told her I do and that I have written some which I am going to print and give to her. She was impressed
Add to that GS1 being highly impressed hearing me sing a song from Frozen the other day, I'm doing well
