Updating my thread as now my 6 year old grandson has joined Beavers!

A different pack to the one his cousin went to. The scout hut is very conveniently located 2 minutes walk from their house!
I will be dropping him off there tonight. His first time was last week. Thought slightly reluctant for mum to leave him, he had a wonderful time and couldn't wait to go back.
He has GD's tops. His mum spent some time removing her badges

Gem, how lovely. My GD2 has just joined Rainbows - she's had her two 'trial' sessions and loves it. Her mum has de-badged her sister's Rainbow uniform for her, so she's all ready to become a Rainbow. She's so excited. I hope your GS1 enjoys his Beavers group as well.

Qwerty, Rainbows Brownies and guides were for girls. Beavers Cubs and Scouts for boys.
For several years now children have been allowed to choose. My GD as it says at the start of this thread chose Beavers. There were a few other girls. She stayed until she was 8 then didn't move on anywhere else. Her dance and karate classes fill a fair amount of time!

Gem - I'm sure being able to run round and make a noise is part of the fun!

Our poor GD2 missed her Rainbow night tonight because she's off school poorly. She should be going back tomorrow, but they didn't want to send her and risk passing the bug on to others, plus being tired for school tomorrow.

From the look on GS's face Daisy, definitely part of the fun

I hope your GD is better soon.

Thank, Gem. Yes she's ok now and is going back to school tomorrow.

I tried to encourage my two girls to join groups like these but they only went a few times then lost interest. I then sold the uniforms on. Same with tap dancing & swimming training. At least they tried.

Your GC sound as happy as fish in water. I do like these organisations for character building etc.

I was a Brownie Guider for 9 years and still belong to ex-Guiders Trefoil. It is quite a different job being a Guider these days, many more rules and regulations and I am not keen on the uniform, loved the little brown dresses. My DD went on to Rangers and loved it.

Plant I was a Brownie & loved it. I have a picture somewhere. I look very proud with myself in my little uniform. I went up to Guides but didn't last long. "I promise to do my best...." funny what you remember.

I desperately wanted to join Cubs when I was little, but everybody laughed at me and said it was only for boys!

Later on I asked if I could go to Guides with my best friend, but the answer was 'no'.

One of our Brownies in the Pack died of a brain tumour when she was nine, I cried when her parents came to tell me and said she would be wearing her uniform at her funeral.
