    Shouting at grandchildren

I have never shouted at any of my GC, I wouldn't dream of it.
Although with GS1 for a time it was tempting!! I have had to tell them all off of course at certain times, but never shouted.
My friend C definitely shouts at hers as I have heard her, many times. One of the first times my GD then aged 3 met C she was shouting at her 5 year old GD. My GD looked terrified! I explained that C was a bit cross with her GD, but that no one would be shouting at her She has got along well with C ever since.

My friend who has her 2 GS's staying from America apparently shouts at them if they don't do what she asks. This surprises me as she is a very nice person who I wouldn't expect to shout! I know pairs of boys can be tricky at times, so I suppose she must have her reasons.

Are/were you a shouty Grandma? Do you think it's right to shout at GC?

Gem, generally I would say no, I don't shout at our grandchildren but I did shout occasionally at one of my GCs when they were young to stop an action that would be been dangerous. Some children's confidence stretches their ability to see problems ahead.

I know grandmothers who do shout at their grandchildren, and it was probably part of their parenting style as well.

Daisy oh yes I agree about a shout to prevent danger!

Gem, it was often a full-volume screech from me!

We have never shouted at our grandchildren.
If they did anything wrong, we used to sit them down and quietly explain what and why something was wrong.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
