    Football

As you know my GS was a very talented footballer , but one day he just decided he had enough and didn't want to play anymore,
He then took up golf , he loves it and any spare time is spent on the course or driving range.
Well he was telling us when he phones on Friday he has joined a Sunday league football team.
He said there is no pressure no constant training and he's enjoyed the two games he has played.
He was surprised how his fitness levels had dropped but thinks he will soon get that back .

We didn't think he would ever play again as he didn't even have a kick about with his friends,
but this is on his terms if he doesn't want to play he doesn't .
I don't think he will ever be into it as he was but he's so far enjoying the kick about .

Oma, I think it's great that he's playing football in a way that's comfortable to him. There was a huge amount of pressure on the youngsters with the 'big name' teams he worked with, but this sounds like a sport ought to be (in my view) - fun, good team work, good exercise and probably a pint at the pub afterwards. Good for him. He's such a mature and sensible lad, is your GS. xx

Oh that's interesting that GS1 has got into football again Oma. In a lovely relaxed way too
I have 3 GS's and so far none are interested in football.

        Thank you Daisy
There was a lot of pressure and he just found it overwhelming,
Plus he wanted to go out and enjoy himself , something he couldn't do with practice and some of the clubs like Newcastle and Middlesbrough were quite a travel almost every night.
Not so bad when he played for Sunderland but still took all his time away.
It stopped him enjoying it .

        Gem
My DS never showed any interest in football either , GS2 has no interest whatsoever,
We would take him to watch GS1 who he adored but didn't want to kick a football around with him
        Just not his thing .

Its good that he's enjoying it.
Neither of our sons are interested in football.
Hubby will sometimes watch a game on tv.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Neither my sons nor my grand sons were interested in football. In fact the only one interested in playing was GD1, and she got fed up because she was the only girl playing and the boys wouldn't pass to her. Even my OH who enjoys watching football on the television didn't play once he went to the grammar school because they only played rugby and hockey.

My OH, my Son and SIL all played football at Junior School but Rugby at Senior School and are still avid Rugby Television watchers. I love watching the International Games.
