    Work Experience

I just wanted to share some nice news with you all.

Our GD1 who is in Year 10, has to do work experience this summer. Her main interest is textiles and design, and she's landed a week in a lovely little wool shop where she buys most of her supplies. She's over the moon about it. Then she found out they don't open until 10 am, so she gets a massive lie in as well!

The ladies who own the shop are lovely and GD is so excited.

Sounds like heaven to me Daisy. 😁

Daisy, that is so nice for GD1, she will love it, I heard yesterday that GD1 is going on her work experience to Portugal next month, she was showing me the apartment she is staying in, 6 girls all out of her year.

Gem, GD2 asked at the same time "which class do I need to be in to go"!

Grauntie, if you met my GD she would be firing questions at you, asking for know how, tips and tricks of the trade and discussing ideas with you! She is loving having her own sewing machine, and is already showing her other Grandma features on it Grandma didn't know it had (she has the same model).

Lizzie, work experience in Portugal is in a whole different league. How exciting for your GD. No wonder her sister is showing interest as well.

Congratulations to your GD. It’s lovely when they have a passion that could lead to a future career. Many youngsters have no idea what they want to do.

GS did work experience at the local leisure centre and was offered a regular job there! It's during the school holidays and at weekends, but it's well paid and he tells me he's getting a pay rise! He seems to enjoy it too. The experience will look good on his future CV as well.

WG, that's brilliant. He must have impressed them, because I'm sure there are lots of youngsters who would be happy to work at a leisure centre. It's definitely a good thing to have on his CV as well. He's quite sporty isn't he? You must be very proud of him. xx

I'm not at all sporty ( my only exercise takes place in the water!) I worked in a leisure centre for 12 years, in the crèche.
