    Back to School

Most schools re-open today or tomorrow after the Christmas holidays. How do your school-age grandchildren handle the return to school.

My 14 year old GD1 was quite anxious last night, but her Dad says she was much more cheerful this morning and went off quite happily. Given she has to leave home at 7 am, I don't think I'd be that cheery on a cold, dark winter's morning!

Daisy that's an early start for your GD! Even earlier than my GD who had to be at school by 8.30.

I really hope my 12 year old GS1 will get back to school this term

I imagine GD and GS2 will be fine.

Little GS3 may find it a little odd going back to nursery tomorrow after the break but will hopefully be OK.

Gem, I was thinking about your GS1 after I posted. I hope he gets back this term as well.

GS3 is such a happy little chap I'm sure he will settle in again and enjoy al the toys, games and fun.

My GD1 doesn't have to be in school till about 8.40, I think, but it's a long journey through incredibly busy traffic and if the bus left any later they'd be late every day. As it is they get held up quite often.

Daisy does GD1 have an early finish?

My GD finishes at 2.30 so doesn't mind the early start so much.

There is no direct bus so she's driven in so doesn't have to set off so early.

I started my secondary school at 8.50 am and my friend and I were always running down the road to make it

I recieved a phonecall to ask if I knew was the school closed? Erm sonshine #3 ... I don't know I live in a different borough to you now 😂

Gem, no, GD2 doesn't have an early finish - I think it's about 3.50 - but it's just the long journey on busy roads that's the problem, and of course the school bus has to take pupils all over the place, so not necessarily the most direct route. GD's school share the bus with the boys' school next door.

I had to smile at the mental picture of you and your friend having to run to get to school in time. I lived just under 3 miles from my secondary school and my Dad sometimes gave me and a couple of friends a lift, otherwise we walked, and it was all uphill! I don't remember ever being late, so perhaps it was when we were running late that my Dad took us in.

Nannie N'Ange, oh dear, I bet DS3 had a very red face when he realised there was no breakfast club, and no school either.

              GS2&GD started back today,
GS2 leaves home at 6.30 he has almost a hours traven into 6th form,
              GD leaves about 8 ,
Neither were eager to go back , mostly because they both like their bed and GD is like me a poor sleeper so just getting comfy when it's time to get up.

Oh Nannie I bet he could have kicked himself .
How is it no matter how old they get they still expect their mother to know everything 😂
Im not fat just 6ft too small
