My GD1 will be 14 tomorrow, and today she had her ears pierced. She's been wanting them done for a while, and finally her Mum and Dad agreed. GD2 would like hers done as well, but her parents say she's too young at 10. GD2 has pointed out that her best friend has pierced ears, but they've explained that it's usual in her culture.
GD1 isn't interested in being fashionable so far. She enjoys making her own clothes usually from charity shop finds. (Yesterday she bought a pair of linen Fat Face shorts for £6.50. Miles too big, but she will resize them to fit.). On the other hand, GD2 is much more fashion conscious. One morning on holiday she wouldn't go into the campsite playground as all the other girls there were wearing crop tops - a fashion no-no as far as her Mum's concerned. I was quite surprised that she was so 'into' clothes.
I remember my GSs at that age having favourite brands of t-shirts but that's about all, and lots of experimenting with hair styles and colours.
I just wondered what other Grannies thought about teen fashion, and what their GDs' parents think is appropriate at what age?
