    She's done it

When GD2 went up to the Junior school in September she had to wear a tie for the first time. It's been a huge frustration to her that she didn't seem able to work out how to fasten it.

Anyway yesterday was a Red Letter Day - she finally "got" it and tied a nice neat knot with the right lengths of front and back to sit neatly on her blouse!

    Oh, well done GD2 Daisy!

I remember having to do my DD's ties for some time until they got the hang of it - and they were secondary school age.

I can remember trying to teach my 3 how to tie a tie . When they finally get the hang of it, it is indeed an eureka moment

I gather from a friend that lace-up shoes are very popular now. Good luck with the ties. When my DD went to Grammar School they didn’t have blouses they had polo neck tops with a pinafore dress and a short jacket. They always looked tidy.

Gem - I found I couldn't teach either of my DSs to tie laces. I think it was the way I did it that confused them, because my mother showed them and they got it almost immediately! He'll get there sooner or later.

Plant - that sounds like a nice neat, easy uniform.

                  Well done that girl!
The Windsor knot was the thing when I went to school, I think I could do one now if asked to. 😆

Grauntie - on the very rare occasion my OH wears a tie these days he does a Windsor knot. I think it stayed in place better than an ordinary tie knot, didn't it?
