    Birthday party

I've mentioned elsewhere that GS1 was 18 a few days ago (how did our baby grandson get to be 18 so quickly!!) and as often happens in families lots of birthdays and celebrations seem to bunch together, like buses.

A couple of weeks ago it was GS's other gran's 80th party which had to be cancelled due to illness. So it was decided to roll the two birthdays, plus DS1 and DIL1's Wedding anniversary, and two other birthdays together in one party, yesterday.

We have had a very busy week with lots of social things going on, including visitors for dinner on Saturday evening. So we had a late night then, and an early start yesterday to take Eva to DS2's and drive up to DS1's. The party was in DIL1's dad's garden which is huge and beautiful. We had a lovely time, even though there were several people there we didn't know. It was good seeing some new faces after all the months of lockdown. An Elvis tribute act had been booked as a surprise for DIL's mum, and she was speechless! He was very good and OH and I reverted to teenagers having a good bop to his music!

We left about 11 pm and walked back to DS1's - about a mile or so away, and by the time we got home we were both tired, and slept like logs. I was very glad we weren't driving home that night. We've spent today with DS1 and DIL and GS1. GS2 started a summer activity camp this morning.

We helped DIL with various errands and she cooked us a nice lunch. We didn't leave until about 4 o'clock, and on the way back we drove through a horrendous storm. Traffic on the motorway was down to about 30 mph because visibility was so bad. A few miles further south and it was completely dry! We went to collect Eva, who gave us a good welcome, and got home about 7 o'clock. We feel we've been away for ages, not 48 hours, and are very tired. We're completely out of practice at partying!!

But it's been lovely to see everyone. Great to see GS1 enjoying his birthday, and blowing all his candles out in one go!

I'm saving catch-up on here until tomorrow, but have to go out early to collect GD2 and Cooper first. Another busy day, probably.

Daisy, that sounds fantastic, especially the "bop"! Did you have a net petticoat packed especially for that????

      Wow Daisy, you social butterfly.
No wonder you were both very tired, but pleased you all had a good time.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

What a lovely busy social time Daisy! It feels so good to be living life again after all that time of restrictions doesn't it?
I think you may need couple of lazy days soon though!

Wow Daisy, what a lovely idea to celebrate the birthdays and anniversary at the same time.

Well I need a rest just reading all that
Isn't it nice to be enjoying life again as Gem said ,
Getting back into it is exhausting though , everyone is out of practice and have so much to catch up with and tell each other ,

When's the next party ? you need to start training now .

Yes, it does seem strange seeing people after such a long time of going nowhere, and I had got out of the habit of being sociable.

Lizzie, net petticoats would have been great!

The next family birthday is GD1's at the end of this month, so I'd better get a few early nights before then.
