Oma - that is a wonderful commentary on Josh's ability to see to the heart of a topic, and to see round and through it. I believe the Tutor is right - very talented students can be disadvantaged by exam systems that don't make allowances for the astute-minded kids. Exam technique is often underestimated, but it sounds as though this lovely Tutor has seen how important it is.
Well done, Josh - we're all proud of you.

Thank you ladies , he is a hard worker , he seems to be able to balance work and leisure well ,
I do feel sorry for other children who do not have his opportunities though ,
At the moment I don't think they are getting the best deal , but what else can the education do in these unsettled times ,
I recall a friend of my DD who was never so good in lessons and was told she would fail everything , then she did her exams and got top marks in every subject and went on to make a excellent career for herself
If it had been left to her course work and teachers assessment she would have failed ,
That's what worries me about this present situation for a lot of students ,
I only hope my other two GC do as well , but whatever they do I will be proud of them as long as they are happy that's my main priority .

Well done to DD's friend on getting such good results. The school system doesn't work for everyone. Some students do their best work through coursework and others prefer formal exams. Unfortunately it looks as though yet another year of children are going to be driven down the course work route. I hope it works for all our GCs - I'm hoping it might benefit my GS2 slightly as he's dyslexic and although he gets extra time in exams he's not great at exam technique and ordering his thoughts effectively.

So totally agree with his tutor. It’s what teachers have been saying for years, but stymied by Gove and his cohorts. Josh is a boy after my own heart, let’s hope he goes on to read history and change the world!
I am feeling very proud of GS1 today. He is away at uni in Loughborough at the moment. My DD transfers money every month into his account for living expenses. She transferred the money across yesterday as usual. Today he transferred £50 back to her. He sent a text telling her what he’d done, because he said he didn’t need to spend so much last month, so had money left over. I wonder how many students would be so thoughtful. So very proud of the young man he has become.
Always face the sunshine and the shadows fall behind you.
