    Embarrassed Mum!

It's our GD2 again - the one who says it like it is.

On Monday GD1 announced she wasn't going to school, it was a boring waste of time and she wasn't learning anything. On the cusp of some standard teenage behaviour she added "and you can't make me, Mum". Daddy stepped in with the information that if she didn't go he and mum could get fined and they couldn't afford it, so she was going.

Well, GD1 can do a good strop and it continued all the way to the school gates but by then she'd got herself into a bit of a state and was in tears. Mum usually leaves her at the gates, but decided to take her in. The Deputy Head spotted them, GD1 still in tears and hanging back. She's a lovely lady and came over to see what the problem was. Mum wasn't quite sure what to say, but GD2 came to the rescue -

"Well, it's like this Miss X. My sister doesn't want to come to school because the work's too easy and she's bored."

We can rely on your GD2 to keep us amused Daisy

I wonder what the head said and thought?!!

She certainly tells it like it is. I wonder what the head thought as well.

No doubt that will be the talk of the staff room. What a character.

At least GD1 was kicking off because she wants to work harder, but all the teachers must be finding it hard at the moment to try and get all the children up to speed after being away from school for so long. It must be an impossible job to juggle all the individual children's needs.

GD1's teacher is lovely - all the children think he's wonderful, and he's a very good and experienced teacher.

No messing there! At least the teacher now knows what the problem is! Sometimes we try to explain things in a roundabout way trying not to offend or hurt feelings when the direct approach will be clearer!

Well done GD2 for telling it like it is. Maybe GD1’s teacher will now offer her more stimulating, challenging work. Her needs clearly aren’t being met at present. Good luck.

Shem - that's true, and we can always rely on our little GD2 to go straight to the point.

Sunshine, to be fair, GD1's teacher does give her extra work, but she hoovers it all up and I suspect as she's Year 6, he hasn't got such ready access to a lot of extra material, and the staff are under awful pressure at the moment. GD is also finding the bubbles and other restrictions really hard to cope with, plus not being able to see all her friends because some are in different bubbles.

It's so hard for the older children Daisy. Little ones like my GS2 in reception, know no different.
