    My GS1

As most of you know my GS1 is autistic. He's also a fairly typical 17 year old teenager, with mood swings, smart answers, cheek, a fair amount of boundary pushing and sometimes downright selfish. However sometimes the sweet, kind lad he is does show through.

Both he and his brother are understandably worried about their Dad's illness - they were there when he had the seizure - and were very glad to have him back home.

GS1 told his mum today that he's been staying awake all night so he can slip in and check that his Dad's ok in the night when mum's asleep. He has been sleeping quite a lot in the day-time, now we know why!

Ah bless him. I bet he’s more worried about his dad than anyone really knows. His true self is shining through.

Sunshine - as you can imagine he's not great at expressing his feelings, so when he does something like that it's special.

Daisy it must have been a shock seeing his Dad have a seizure,
he’s taking it upon himself to be guardian at night , that shows his caring side bless him
how lovely is that , as long as it doesn’t become a habit of staying awake all night and sleeping all day .

As I have said before my GNephew has Autism and Asperger he turned 21 last week and when his grandad my brother died in April he was the biggest comfort for my niece
He sort of took on another role that they didn’t think he was capable of and was very grown up about it

Your grandson is a very lovely young man and times like this you can forgive a little selfishness

That's lovely to hear, Oma. With GS1 it sometimes seems like a sixth sense - it's hard to explain. He just picks up on something and does exactly the right thing.

It's also made me wonder how Clover's GS's arm is healing. Clover - sorry if I've missed any updates, but how is he? xx

GS1's contribution to the family today was to fix up an old laptop for his dad to use instead of his work one, although he's been told to strictly limit screen usage.
