    Grandson No. 2

My second grandson is 27 the daddy of my GGD &GGS he is such a clever boy as well as a really good parent to his two children he has been on furlough from work he is an Engineer at LandRover and is one of the Engineers brought in for their new site over in Liverpool 3 yrs ago under a very good package.
He has been doing his Masters under the guidance of LR with the prospect of becoming one of their tutors in the development plant,he has worked very hard at home during this lockdown period working on his studies.
Ten days ago he received due to the state of the current lockdown & everything else going on 4 of the engineers will be made redundant and his name is on the list unfortunately he was devastated obviously as his partner is only in her 2nd year of training to become a nursery nurse so salary is low for her.
He has just phoned me this morning to say he did an online interview with another major company (Walkers) and he is going to work for them as a product engineer and his salary is compatable to that with LR,they are also going to continue to fund his Masters Degree costs and will get in touch with LR to take on the responsibility he is overjoyed but realises that things could have been so different .

That seems to be a positive from a negative. Hopefully, all will work out well for him.

Glamm - he must have been devastated to be made redundant but it's obvious he's really good at what he does and is keen to get even more qualifications. I'm glad he found an equally good job so quickly with the same chance to finish his Masters. Wishing him the best of luck with the new company.

Thanks ladies,he was distraught when he got the news initially as they have only just signed a new lease on their house with an option to buy in 2 years time so at least he won't have a break in employment that would have put that at risk everything is so hard for the youngsters isn't it,it was so much easier for us I seem to remember we just looked at a house in our price range and filled in the forms paid the survey fee and away you went.

Glamm, yes things were easier for us, but I'm glad your GS will still be able to work towards buying his house.

My son was made redundant just before Christmas but has just received confirmation of a new job and he’ll be starting in June. Going to be a shock as had a long paternity leave so hasn’t worked for about one year. It used to be bad enough going back to work after two weeks holiday.
                          xx

Shem - I'm so glad your son has got another job. Hopefully he can relax until June and prepare himself for the shock of being at work again. Congratulations to him. xx
