    Half term already.

First of all we have GS2 & GD for a sleepover tomoro. 5+yrs & 2+yrs. Weather forcast appauling. Got halloween buns & biscuit pkt mixes in & they love baking with me so that's one box ticked. They love walking the dog with GD so must remind their mummy to pack wet weather gear.

Next we have him again on Tuesday as it's half term. Fingers crossed for a better day, weather wise. Then we have GS1, 7+yrs, for a sleepover on Friday. It's a good job that I have days in between to rest up.

It is exhausting with such young children but I wouldn't have it any other way. They just fill you up with so much love. Nothing like it❤

We wont have GS1 next week as DD has the week off so no Dog either , but we are helping D&J move stuff into their new retirement apartment ,
Thursday I will do her kitchen cupboards and get all her kitchen stuff away , put her most used things low down so she can reach them ,
We also intend having his Mam for Tea on Wednesday .

Gem make the most of it as the time they no longer need you after school and Holidays comes around quicker than you think ,
Im sure they will have a lovely time having Grandma all day
Im not fat just 6ft too small

A busy half term Nana, it sounds as though you have lots of fun things planned 😊

Today we have GD and GS2. No plans as until last night I thought I had GS, plus school run for GD!
On Tuesday DD2 and I are going to Leeds on the train with all 3 GC, lunch and a theatre trip. GS1 is having a sleepover here that night.
GD and GS2 all day again next Friday. Not sure what our plans for that day are

We're just finishing Half term in Cambridgeshire. Seems rather early to me, but am sure the powers that be know what they're doing. GS off next week and the following one. Seems his school has lumped all the training days together and pupils are having two weeks instead of one. Bit of a b***** if you need childcare, but it's been happening in Scotland for a few years now. Gone are the days when we got one day for half term and one day for the local September holiday, that was a looooong term from mid-August to December! Children today don't know how lucky they are!

All 4 of our are on half-term next week. Plans are still to be made, but we'll probably have both GDs for a sleepover Monday night.

DS1 and family are currently living with DIL's mum and step-dad while their house is being extended, and DS1 is on holiday for the week. So he's trying to sort out some activities for the boys - go karting and other boy-stuff. But they can't leave Bailey their dog in the house on his own, so he's trying to work things so that we can have Bailey, which means they may also come and stay. It's a pity we don't live closer which would make it much easier.

WeeGranny - we were talking about school holidays at lunch yesterday! there's never an easy answer is there. We were always plagued by being on a county border and having children (and me) in various counties with different holidays. At one time there was talk of having something like 8 week terms then 2 weeks holiday and doing away with the long summer break. It came to nothing, and I suspect there were too many problems to make such a drastic change.

The four term year had just started when we were in OZ Daisy and it seemed to work very well. At least there were no half terms to worry about and you knew exactly where you were. Not sure if it was the whole of Australia or just Victoria where we were based.

We are also in Cambridgeshire and we’ve had one lot of gs on Monday and the other lot yesterday. We took the elder two to Duxford Imperial War Museum- they are still quite young for it but lasted until about 1:30. It was raining quite hard by the time we left. Off to Portugal on Sunday to have a rest for a couple of weeks.

Interesting reading. It's odd how schools have different dates. As I said earlier we're having GS2 & GD tomoro. His mummy said they are ALL exhausted, so maybe 1/2 term is necessary for these little ones.

Yep. The children need the half term break. So do the teachers. My daughter and SIL have been doing 12 hour days since September and paperwork at the weekend. If you’re committed to teaching and all it entails you will certainly welcome the half term break.

Sunshine - I'm not surprised your DD and SIL need their break - a new house and for SIL a new job! There was one year when I was teaching in one county and both the DSs were at school in another and we had different half-terms. OH took the week off to be with them, and I had a whole week to get on top of college stuff, and have a bit of time off! I felt guilty for enjoying it so much though.

When a friend of mine worked in a county council education department she had the unenviable and impossible task of determining term dates. Whatever she chose half the population of the county seemed to complain!
