    GS1 & cooking

Just had to tell you this ,
GS1 at almost 15 is old enough to leave on his own , so Friday night DD & SIL went out for a meal
They left him home with two of his friends ,
They decided to take Storm for a walk then on the way home called into the shops to buy Bacon & Sausage for themselves .

About 9.30 the phone rang this is the conversation

J , Grandad im making Bacon and Sausages I want to know if I have cooked them right before we eat them ,

B ok tell me what you did .

J well I have cooked the bacon on a medium heat turning it till its crispy and put it in a warm oven but im not sure ive done the sausages right,

B well you did well with the bacon how did you cook the sausages ?

J well I BOILED THEM for 10 minutes then I fried them turning them till they were brown all over .

    B YOU BOILED THEM?

    J yes for 10 minutes first ,

well B by this time couldn't breath for laughing so he told him to cut one open and see if it was pink inside if it was they were not cooked but they were ,
I think the 10 minute boiling done the trick .

The worst part was they were Richmond's Sausages , im surprised they didn't fall apart in the water .

I phoned DD yesterday morning to see what state the kitchen was in she said apart from the top of the cooker where obviously the sausages had spit with the water on them the whole house stank when she walked through the door of Boiled Sausages

Well he tried and they survived

Oma be fair, he may have hit on something new, after all look at the ‘ strange ‘ ideas that have come from some celebrity chefs. Heston Blumenthal ( or Heston Blumenheck as I like to call him ) to name but one.

This gave me a laugh Oma

At least they were well cooked so no chance of food poisoning! Very sensible to phone GD to check actually!

Well he didn't want to make them all sick Gem although I think I would have been sick just looking at them

Well done to GS1 - boiled isn't how most people do their sausages, but at least they were cooked right through! I had to laugh though. I bet they felt very grown up!

It reminds me of our GSs - 14 and nearly 16. both arrived home from school a couple of weeks ago, and neither of them had a key. So, using their initiative, they looked to see how they could get into the house. Luckily the bathroom window (almost over the flat roof of the garage, but not quite!) was open. So they both climbed up to try and reach it. At this point their neighbour happened to see them and rang their mum (who was on her way home) to say did she know both boys were scrambling over the garage roof. Of course mum didn't know, so hot footed (or pedalled) it home. As the neighbour said, they could have just knocked on her door for the spare key she keeps!!!

                But boys will be boys.

My DS phoned me when I'd left him on his own for the first time to check how to make mashed potatoes. Do I have to peel them first ? Next call was about washing the cushions on the sofa. By this time I was wondering what state the house would be in when I got home. But give him his due, everything was clean and tidy and he's apretty good cook nowadays.....but still a bit untidy!

GS and I had to break in when I was there recently as the door was stuck. Luckily we found a long piece of wire to stick through the kitchen window and catch hold of the latch and GS climbed in. All this time the dog was barking like a mad thing. When DD came home the door opened first time!

Glad GS and friends suffered no after effects Oma!

WG that reminds me of my DS about 15 years ago now we had gone to visit my sister for a week , the day we were driving home he called and said Mam where do I put the fabric conditioner in the washing machine as ive washed the bedding , well I was shocked he knew how to turn the washer on to be honest ,
Anyway I said it goes in the same draw as the soap powder just in the little blue compartment ,

There was silence then he said what soap powder ? I thought it was automatic doesn't the soap powder go in itself

No you idiot , just leave them in the washer I will do them when I get home was my reply
