A lovely day

Yesterday we had GD and GS2 for the day. They were staying overnight as well.
They arrived late morning. After lunch we all went to the park. The 6 and a half year age gap make trips to the park with one adult tricky. GS is only 2. His sister is 9 and very daring and athletic. As the little one needs the supervision GD has to play alone with only one adult there. Yesterday because OH could go one of us could be in the toddler area with GS and the other admiring GD on zipwire and monkey bars, we swapped from time to time. We had a lovely time, but it was very cold. When we got home I took GS up for his nap, and OH made the rest of us hot chocolate to warm up.

While GS napped GD and I spent a lovely time decorating rocks. We were very happy and both enjoyed it a lot.
We planned to hide GD's rocks this morning (Mine will be hidden with GS1 on Wednesday)
However it rained or snowed all morning.
It turned out however that GD didn't really want to hide hers! I said it was fine, she could keep them of course. She hid one of them in my front garden though. She took 3 home and they are more uncompleted ones here which she will finish next Friday.

After their tea GS watched Room on The Broom and GD had some tablet time. I took GS to bed then we watched CBBC with GD until her bed time.
A lovely day, and very good children who went to bed easily and slept until morning

Isnt it lovely when they have a nice time and are good for you , I understand why GD wanted to take her stones home she must have had lots of fun alone with you doing something for you two that didn't involve a baby brother

Gem - what a lovely day you all had. It can be difficult with that sort of age gap to keep both children happily occupied but that all worked out really well.

I bet GD is really proud of her decorated stones.

Sounds a smashing day Gem , I know what you mean it being hard work with two on your own, as you know I have 2 the same age and it can be quite fraught watching two go in separate directions , the local park has a massive grass area and I can let them run wild but there is a beck runs through the edge of the grass land but I find it difficult in the play area. When one goes up the slide I like to watch them up the steps sit down at the top and be there at the bottom to catch them, I can’t do that I need to watch the other one then up the steps but whilst I see them to the top the other one is climbing up the steps and I can’t be at 2 places at the same time it’s not easy

Thanks everyone. I love my one to one time with GD, I get lots with both boys, but not so much with her now, so I treasure it when it happens.

Qwerty it has to be hard! DD2's friend has 17 month old twins. They are at the age when you really need two adults when out for the day, as they go in different directions! Eventually it will be easier to have two I'm sure as they amuse each other, but we Grandmas never fully relax when we are out with them, whatever the age!
