Goodbye to Reception class for my grandson

Yesterday GS1 broke up from school for the summer holidays. His first school year done and dusted.
It was successful one, with him enjoying school, getting an excellent report and going from having zero interest in reading in September to reading really well.
His teacher is lovely. I liked her from first meeting her when she came on the outing for the preschool last summer, to meet the children who would be in her class the next year. We chatted and from then she has never failed to recognise me when I went for GS once a week. Some of GD's teachers have looked at me quizzically each week way beyond the Easter holidays!
All the children love her. She is a mum of 2 young children which may help.

Yesterday DD said there were tears, the mums I gather rather than the children! Their teacher gave each child photos of their school year, plus a little present each.
Next years Reception children are very lucky

Gem, those children are indeed lucky. A good teacher is priceless and very special -even more so in Reception where children get their first taste of school and learning. Your GS1 has done very well - congratulations young man. xx
