    Baby announcement which backfired!

A friend was telling me of a new baby who arrived in her extended family this week,
I then remembered the story she told me of when the parents told the older children that the baby was on the way.
    There were 3 children . I think their ages are roughly 9 , 7 and 4.
The new baby was to a new partner. The parents were happy and excited and wanted a special way to tell the brothers and sister.
They hit on the idea of making a sign with the scan photo on and words about a new baby coming, and putting it inside a balloon then blowing it up.
The children were told they were going to get a lovely surprise.
Very excited, they gathered round and someone burst the balloon.
The reception was not as expected.

They all burst into tears. They all wanted sweets and were most disappointed that it wasn't in fact sweets. One boy said he did not want a baby, and the oldest, a girl said she was going to live somewhere else!!!!
Poor parents, this was not at all the scene they fondly imagined.

Now the baby is here all will be well I'm sure, although the little girl cried because it was a 3rd brother!!

A lovely idea but a disappointment to the kids bless them I’m sure they will enjoy this new sibling even if it is a boy !!!!

Gem - poor parents and poor children! Both generations must have been very disappointed for different reasons.

I'm sure all three children will be delighted with their new baby brother now he's here.

and I’m sure they all got sweets in the end. 😁

Maybe sweets as well as the announcement would have been a good I will ask my friend how the family is getting on when I next see her.
