    My GD1

We were out at the paddock where we exercise Eva today, along with DS2, family and puppy. In one corner of the paddock there's a large tree with an old-fashioned rope swing with a wooden seat on it. All round there are naturalised daffodils which are just coming into flower, and today with the sun shining, there was plenty of birdsong. It's a lovely spot and the only other sounds were the clip-clop of horses going past towards some stables.

The girls rushed off to play on the swing as they always do. After a while GD2 came to join the grown ups and the dogs. GD1 stayed on the swing, just gently going up and down.

Her mum went over to check she was ok and to see if she wanted to come and join the rest of us.

"No, thank you", she said. "I'm enjoying sitting here among the flowers and listening to the birds." It made me think that in their busy noisy lives even quite young children don't get much peace or time for being quiet and enjoying their own company.

I agree Daisy , when you think about it how many children get the chance to do that ,
Even at home if they are just reading a book they have all the household noise around them ,

To appreciate that quiet time just listening to the birds at that age is special ,
I bet she can go into her own imaginary world and make wonderful stories in her head .

I recall reading about a Author who said as a child she would seek out quiet places to plot her stories , maybe you have a budding Author there

How lovely Daisy, not all children can appreciate such things.
You are right, the lives of today's children tends to be so busy and activity packed, time to quietly enjoy nature and just be still are not common.

Wasn't that lovely Daisy. Not many children care/appreciate something like that these days.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

She's quite mature in many ways and thinks about things a lot. She's always writing stories and poems and has a great imagination. She's currently reading a book called The Princess and the Suffragette and today we were talking about the 100th anniversary of some women getting the vote. The book was set in 1913, and I was telling her that my mother, her great-grandmother was the same age as her in 1913. She was really fascinated, but sadly I haven't got any photos to bring it to life for her.
