Get the Skinny on Daisies

This is GD1's pearl of wisdom on daisies.

She showed her dad two little daisies she'd picked. One, she said, was a little girl Daisy because it had little pink tips under the petals, the other, a much sadder specimen was a little boy Daisy because it was untidy. She turned the 2 flowers round in her hand and told her dad they were now married.

Then she whispered to her dad that she wasn't supposed to say it, but she thought little girl daisies were better than little boy daisies. Dad asked why she was whispering. "Because my little boy Daisy has very good hearing and I don't want to hurt his feelings."

I remember the first time she saw a Daisy growing on a grass verge. She spent about 10 minutes looking at it carefully and very gently stroking the little petals. She's such a sensitive little soul, although she can also be a little madam as well.

She is all of those - a little treasure, thoughtful and kind. She also has a wicked sense of humour and it's quite possible that the comment about the little boy daisy having good hearing was to tease her daddy! :
