Yesterday 13 year old Gs1 asked me if we had considered having real Christmas tree! I told him I had one all my adult life, since before his mum was born, until about 3 years ago. He asked why we didn't now. I said we were getting older and the effort of buying, bringing home sawing the bottom, then sawing it up and disposing of it afterwards was something we decided we had enough of.
I bought a very nice realistic pre lit artificial tree in the Boxing Day sale from Balsam Hill a few years ago.
He told me not to worry, he and his mum would help with all that, plus he knew a really good place buy a tree
Not content to let it go he came back to the subject a couple of hours later. To appease him I said thank you very much and we will think about it
On the way home from school pick-up with both boys yesterday, they were both saying they didn't have much money! GS2 said that he got a pound a week for coming to my house. I said that wasn't why, and that his sister gets a lot more and rarely comes (being 16 and needing no childcare) You could see the cogs whirring and I imagined him telling his mum he wasn't coming on Fridays any more so he got more pocket money
I then explained the pocket money increase with age, so he understood.
I don't know which was funnier - the fact I may pay him to come to our house, or pay GD to stay away!!
