    "I want the dork"!

The other morning OH, little GS3 and I were in the garden. He and his mummy had stayed the night and she was upstairs getting ready.

He asked several times if he could have the dork and where the dork was. OH and I were puzzled and kept stupidly repeating the word dork which got us all nowhere!
Eventually he said something which suddenly made me realise he meant the pavement chalks. CHALK not DORK

When DD came out I started to tell her and she said she had heard the conversation thought the open window and knew he was asking for chalk. She also heard him say 'I want to do some dorking'. We didn't hear that but if we had I think the penny would have dropped sooner

    I love that😁
Sometimes it does take a while for the penny to drop but you get there and mummy would know instantly 😁
Chalk will always be Dork to you now 🀣

Aww, bless him. I love that stage where they're finding and adapting words. Dork certainly made me smile. xx

Another word he uses is gouse, for house!
There was one incident a few weeks ago when he kept asking ' where is the gouse Grandma?' I think the day was halfway over when I remembered that was his word for house He wanted the little house with Fisher Price play people.
It's confusing as he says his Hs beautifully in his, have , here etc but for some words such as house he substitutes a G!
I am tuned to this now but it took a while!

Up here we don't use the H we say ouse , or ut for house and hut or av'e for have, so he would fit in fine with us 😁😚

Bless him. He knew what he meant.

Oma, in our part of Yorkshire,we don't pronounce the H either.

When I went on holiday GS3 was still saying Gouse and Gome for house and home, with G in place of the H

Yesterday he was saying them perfectly with an H. It was only two weeks since I last saw him, so that change somehow happened in that time

Gem, that's good progress. Sometimes forming certain sounds can be a struggle for ages. E is a very smart little boy. xx
