Our not-quite-6 year old GD2 is an outgoing, friendly little girl. Everyone seems to know her and she's got no inhibitions about walking up to someone and starting a conversation. So her teacher was a bit surprised yesterday to see her looking rather sad, playing on her own at playtime.
She went over to ask if GD was ok. "No", replied GD. "It's lonely playing on my own."
Her teacher asked why she was on her own.
"Well, I didn't know what to do. X wanted to play with me and so did Y and Z. And I didn't want to hurt anybody's feelings so I said I'm playing on my own, but it's lonely."
