I could come round every day

Yesterday my 6 year old grandson and I noticed a removal van in my road. The people renting a bungalow a few doors down were moving out.
GS said 'If we had sold our house in time we could live there! I could see your house from my house then. I could come every day. I could pop in whenever I liked!'

This would be what you call a mixed blessing

It will be lovely when they eventually move closer, as is the plan. But maybe not that close!

Hahaha I agree Gem. When we moved to this house the one across the road wasn't sold and DD had a look with a view to buy.GS1was only 4month old at the time and although I love them all dearly that was too close. We know what it's like living too close. We lived next door to my Sister for a few years and she didn't give us a minutes peace. Again I loved her but she didn't know the boundaries. No matter how many times I hinted.
i bet E would have loved it though living in your street 😁

He is such a deep thinker. Of course I have had all my 4 GC next door since the youngest was 3, she is now 23. It works for us, well I suppose you would have to ask DD and Sil the same question.

J suspect they would be delighted Plant 😁
We are not the sort of GPs to encroach on their privacy, and they would have a babysitter on tap rather then a half hour drive away.

We live just 3 short streets away from my in laws.
Hubby often says its too near.
DS1 is another 3 streets away, but don't see him much,he is always at work.
All the rest of the family live a car ride away, albeit short drives.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Gem - I think it's sweet that GS1 would like to be your neighbour as well as your GS. He's such a sweetheart!

I sometimes wish we lived closer to DS2 and family. It's only about 20 minutes, but I seem to spend a lot of time driving between the two houses! I'd also like DS1 and family to be closer- they're about 1 1/4 away but if they were nearer it would be great for our GSs to be able to just cycle over or drop in whenever they felt like it.

GS1 is only a few minutes down the road in the next village and he can get to us easily , but the youngest GC are in the next town sadly so even when they are old enough to visit alone it would still be a bus ride away
