    Titanic proportions

I was driving both GDs home from school yesterday, when GD2 remarked on a huge, menacing black cloud ahead of us. She wisely predicted rain, and I agreed, saying we'd hopefully get home before it started.

It was obviously a topic close to her heart at that moment, and she carried on, "yes, it's a cloud of, of ... (struggling for the word) ..... of TITANIC proportions!

GD1, being little Miss Smarty-pants, said, "Don't be silly, the Titanitc's a ship."

So we then got into a conversation about the Titanic and what happened and how words change in use.

Luckily we made it home before the cloud burst.

So sweet and yes a very clever girl but it is a good word to describe something so large isn't it . I like the way it led to a conversation about the Titanic they learned something along the way

Well done to GD 2 on finding the right word she wanted and GD1 for knowing about Titanic the ship.
When I read the first few words of your post I thought you were going to say something about the rain being so heavy the car nearly sank

I was a bit surprised that GD1 aka Miss smarty Pants, didn't know the word could be used like that, and also as we got into the conversation about what happened to the Titanic, she didn't know that people could drown if their boat sank. GD1, always practical, wondered why they couldn't have sat on the iceberg.

Clover that made me laugh out loud - but I have been in a car that sank!

Gem - it's lovely, isn't it, and you nearly always hear something interesting!

                Children’s logic is wonderful.

Grauntie - 'twas many a long year ago.

I'll write about it later when I'm not refereeing Eva and Cooper.
