    Bare stairs!

As we are getting a new stair carpet next week we have taken up the old one to finish the painting close to the edge.
When my 6 year old grandson arrived yesterday he literally did a double take. I don't think he has ever seen uncarpeted stairs before! I explained to him, and said that was the first of 2 unexpected things, the shaved cat being the other!
When his cousins arrived I heard him telling his older cousin what I had told him, whilst showing her the stairs. How the nails on the stairs were covered with strips of underlay, but to still be very careful and only go upstairs if essential. He also launched into the cat thing, but I rescued his cousin by telling GS that she has seen the cat last week

Very sensible warning his cousin of the nails.

Gem - your poor GCs, Gem. They turn up expecting Grandma's house to be just like it was last time, and there are bare stairs and a shaved cat! No wonder GS1's tooth fell out - it was the shock.

He was a sweetie to warn his cousins, bless him.

Daisy, when GD first saw the cat last week she said 'Whats happened to H??!!' She was very shocked. I said I was so sorry, we had the walk to the car followed by a 30 minute drive and I had forgotten to mention it!
I warned GS1 before he saw her!

Gem, poor GD. If she was so shocked you can understand puss's 'sister' being shocked and hissy! At least you could explain to GD.
