    You're 64 Grandma!

Yesterday, on the drive home from school my older grandson and I were discussing something, and I told him I couldn't remember, as I was an old lady.
He turned to me rather scornfully and said " Grandma, you're 64!!"

This amused me one two counts. 1 that my 6 year old GS knows my age, and 2 that a child doesn't think of 64 as old!!
He knows my mum is 90, so I guess that's his benchmark for old age

A few weeks ago we were on Grandparent duties at DD's. On the Sunday morning I wandered down to the local shop to get a paper and a little boy was helping his Dad/Grandad behind the counter. I'd have said he was no more than 5. Anyway, he had a notebook and pencil and he politely asked me my name and how to spell it. So remembering my phonics, I spelt it out for him and he told me what it said. He told me his name and how to spell it and we agreed it was difficult to spell. Then he asked how old I was. So I said ,102. His eyes grew wider and he looked at me and said....That's VERY old!! The chap behind the counter could hardly keep a straight face, neither could I. Then he walked to the door with me and wished me Goodbye! He was a little sweetie.

Gem - your GS1 is such a charming young man. He will go far in life.

WeeGranny - awww, what a lovely little boy, and it was sweet of you to take time to chat with him.

Plant....yes it was the shop near the pond just along the road from the cafe ! There's a good selection of shops there including a lovely greengrocer's.

Wee Granny - proper greengrocers shops are few and fair between, sadly. We're lucky to still have one in our village, but neither of the two nearest towns have one.
