    The wrong screen

Yesterday afternoon GS1, aged 6 and I went to the cinema. It was busy there, obviously a popular choice for a dull drizzly last day of the school holidays.
There were 3 children's films showing. He had seen Mary Poppins Returns , and he chose The Grinch from the other two.

We arrived at the cinema and I told him he could chose 6 sweets from Pick and Mix, one for each year of his age. He had never had Pick and Mix before so was happy.
We bought the tickets and paid for the sweets. GS told the man serving us that he was So Excited

A rather offhand girl checked our tickets and told us which screen to go to. Off we set, and in we went to Screen 4. 'It's started!' announced GS, 'it's Mary Poppins!'. 'That will be a trailer' I said as we walked right down to row D. The screen seemed bigger than I expected and the trailer was still playing, so we hurriedly left. I then steered GS to the next door and we proceeded to go down to row D. Me steering GS and holding his box of sweets. I could hear GS saying 'It's still Mary Poppins Grandma'.
'Oh dear I said, maybe we are still in the wrong screen!' We hurried out. A dear little girl aged 12 or 13, a member of the audience followed me out and asked if we were lost. Now I know I am old LOL. I thanked her very much and said we would be fine .
Checking our tickets it said screen 5. We had been into screen 4. Twice! The offhand ticket check girl had either told me the wrong screen or mumbled so much I misheard.
All was fine, we found our much smaller screen and took our seats. The adverts were playing so we had missed nothing. All evening yesterday I kept chuckling to myself about everyone seeing us enter the wrong screen twice, through different doors, a small boy patiently telling an adult they were in the wrong film

Gem - what a performance! (Pun intended!) I'm glad you found The Grinch in the end. Perhaps the offhand ticket girl should have been watching it too.

What a sweet little girl, checking if you were lost.

That's funny. Hope he enjoyed the film after your adventure.

Once years ago when DD3 was at 6th form, we did the same thing!
I picked her up from college after her morning classes, she was free all afternoon. We were going to see one of the later Harry Potter films. We dropped into Tesco, near the cinema, to get sandwiches etc for DD's lunch. We sat down, got settled and DD spread her lunch around, it was fairly quiet in there. After the ads and trailers, came the announcement 'Please put on your 3D glasses'. We looked at each other in surprise. I looked around and realised the rest of the audience were predominantly young men. I asked the pair behind me what film it was, 'Something or other 3' was the reply. I cant remember the title. We quickly collected sandwiches, bags coats etc and left and found the correct screen!!
In this case we had checked the tickets and both knew which number screen we should have been in, but for some reason we walked into the wrong one

Made me chuckle Gem a confused grandma , but I think it’s easily done, they all look the same and if you misheard her you could get lost in the place, if I go to the loo part way through I get very dicomfigurated lol it all looks different to when I went in
