Last week my older grandson, 5 and I were at the local park. After a while a little boy his age came over and asked if GS wanted to play. Being him, he needed time to process this, so I thanked the boy and said 'I think he will in a minute! Maybe you go and play a bit?' He did and eventually GS called to the boy and they played. The boy had a football so after a while they played with that and ran off to the goal posts. GS has no ball skills but he managed
I followed them to sit closer so I could keep an eye on GS.
The other boy's mum was there with her baby. Eventually the boys came back and we all had a ice cream, then GS asked them if they ate meat. They do. He told them he is a vegetarian and eats no meat or fish. He then said his Nanna (my mum) was nearly 90 and really believed in God, so he wasn't to say 'Oh God' in front of her (This made me smile as I have never heard him say such a thing anyway!) He then asked the group 'Who here believes in God?' Little boy put up his hand and GS did too 'We both believe in God!!' GS exclaimed in delight. He then asked something really mundane, such as what the boy's favourite colour was. The mum and I were looking at each other and controlling our laughter
I don't think my grandson will have a problem with small talk at parties
