Last week GS1 and I were in his local park after school. A little girl kept calling his name. He looked pleased but shy and kept coming to me!
Eventually she came over and they started to play together. He had told me she was in Year 1, in rather awed tones
I asked her her name, she told me and said she was in Year 1. Yes I know I said, and E is in reception.
'I'm 5 and a half' said GS proudly.
'I'm only 5' replied little girl.
Numbers are GSs 'thing' , so this confused him. He wondered why he was only in reception aged 5 and half and mere 5 year old was in year 1!!
Hoping to clear this matter up, I said that GS would be 6 in October. Little girl then replied that she would be 6 in June. Confusion cleared up! GS was satisfied that she was in fact older than him
