What a lovely experience for him Oma.He certainly seems to be having fun

Children these days have so many wonderful opportunities (if their parents can afford it ) to travel with and without their families. So different in “our”day. Now I sound like the old woman I am.

Wow, that will be an experience for Josh. I had a very forward thinking Headmistress and considering I am talking about 65 years ago, she arranged trips to the theatre (Romeo and Juliet), ballet, tennis, coronation etc also a trip to Switzerland but I was unable to go, my parents couldn't afford it.

Its very expensive Plant , for Josh its £1000 to New York , that's for Trips, Breakfast, Flights, & Hotel , evening meals not included . so a costly trip I think .

Gem there is a artificial Ski slope over the road to B's mams its very popular , It used to be the pit heap from the local mines till it was developed . told my DS to take him there its only about 10 mins from there house , I'm sure he would enjoy it

What a happy Chappy. 😁 Oma however can they expect parents to find a thousand pounds +? Surely the divide between rich & poor becomes more obvious. Happy for J & the other children but sad for the children of parents who can't give their children this experience.

Nana my DD said the same thing , they are lucky they have no mortgage DD has a high profile job and SIL his own carpet fitting business , plus J is a only child , but what about low income single parents ,
Growing up we were poor so we never got to go anywhere , at the time I felt sad but as I grew older it wasn't such a big thing but I remember feeling left out

Same with me Oma. The low income single parent you speak of includes my DD1. She would never be able to afford it, although she intends getting work when her second child starts school in a couple of yrs. J is a very lucky boy, but then his parents work hard to give him a good life, similar to my DD2 & her partner.

Oma - well done O on making such good progress with his skiing. The artificial slope sounds just the thing to practice on.

We had hardly any school trips. In the grammar school I can only remember going to see a netball tournament (yawn, yawn!) and a visit to a site of Roman ruins (yawn, yawn). There was a 3 day trip to Paris when we were in the fifth form, but as two days were travelling (coach to Dover and coach from Boulogne to Paris) I definitely didn't want to go. Two days of constant travel sickness isn't very appealing!
