    Good deed of the day!

This afternoon whilst out on a walk I found a phone in a wallet also containing credit cards, driving licence and various work and membership cards. The address on the licence was not walkable to and only had a road name,no number etc. The ID photos showed a young lady. There was no-one around so I decided to take it home and search further for an address. Just then a young lady appeared with her dogs. Although she had blonde hair and the owner of the phone was brunette I know people do change their hair colour so decided to ask her if she had lost a phone. She said no but when I told her the name in the wallet she recognised it as a Mum who has children in the Primary School where her children go. She said she knew this person walked her dog on the common where we were and would take it and give it back at home time when they went to pick up their children.
I know I would be frantic if I lost all those cards, licence and phone so I hope the owner was reunited with it as soon as possible.

Good on you Clover, it's nice to know that there are honest people like you about.

Many years ago I found a wallet in the street on my way home from work. The plan was to hand it into the police station the next day. When I go home I showed the wallet to my DS and soon to be DIL. Inside the wallet was £20 , two credit cards and a student pass with attached photo.... DIL knew him as he was on the same course as her at university so the wallet was returned to its rightful owner. The young man was extremely grateful to get his wallet back and he insisted I had the £20 .

Clover - well done. I bet that mum was extremely grateful to get her phone, the wallet and the other contents back.

Mimi - your story reminded me of being out with the dogs one day and I was stopped by a couple who were looking for their car and house keys which they'd dropped (in the Forest). I lent them my phone so they could contact the people they were staying with. I looked for the keys all the way round my walk, but didn't see them. That night we were having dinner with friends. They mentioned they had been walking in that area and had found a set of car keys which they'd put on a post at the edge of a car park. We were able to retrieve the number from my phone and tell them where their keys were!

Clover , the young woman would be so relieved to get her purse back.

Several years ago OH found a purse on a zebra crossing, on her way to the hospital. No ID, but membership cards with a name, and a hairdressers appointment card. OH rang the hairdressers, was given the owners number and rang her. She had dropped it while going to see her pregnant daughter in hospital, and was very happy to get it back.

A young woman was prosecuted recently for keeping £20 that someone had dropped http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...turn-time.html She was probably charged because she lied to the police which was a bit daft as most shops have surveillance cameras. I was surprised how many people told me I was a mug when I handed in some money I found in Sainsburys. I can remember the awful feeling after loosing some money when we were hard pressed financially and would hate to do that to someone else.
