    The Bungalow

Hi Ladies,As we are all know I have been trying for one of the bungalows in the next Road to where I live at present and have tried many times to be considered but never quite got there to the top of the list, well last week one of them came on line for bidding and with me and hubby having all the points required to move we applied once again,up until Thursday this week we where 1st on the list (happy days said I ) but yesterday our position had moved to no3 and I am devastated to be honest, every other time I have gone down the route that someone else is in more need than we are but my empathy has gone out of the window I was so convinced we would be lucky,John said we may still get the offer but it is such a sort after area and position there is no chance of two people above us refusing so it looks like we will just have to keep waiting and poor Johns mobility up and down the stairs slowly gets more difficult.

Glam I understand how you feel.
In the area where we live there has been call for more bungalows to be built for our aging community but lack of funds makes that seem unlikely and I suppose it's the same in your area, demand outstrips supply.
Have you tried getting age concern involved, they can help you get 'brownie points' to push your case. Also have you had a word with your housing association to see what you can do to actually get to 1 on the list and stay there !
Hopefully you get your dream bungalow very soon xx
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Oh Glamm, I'm gutted for you. Does your OH's decreasing mobility give you more 'points'? What happens if he can't manage the stairs any more and is having to climb the stairs all the time making it worse for him? Is there anything your doctor can do to help your case? You've been very patient, and very charitable but there must surely come a point when your needs have to be met. I know you won't give up without a fight - so I'm keeping everything crossed for you. xxx

In our area they tend to get social services concerned and put chair lifts in , but funds keep getting cut so what happens when they can no longer afford to do that ?
People are living longer now so more bungalows should be built all over the country ,
Glam I really feel for you it must be so frustrating

Such a shame, Glam. Do you know why you were moved from 1st on the list?

Glamma, how very disappointing for you and OH

I hope you soon get to the top of the list and get a bungalow just as nice as this one.
I agree with the others, I wonder if your OH's decreasing mobility could give you any extra points.

Thanks for the lovely warm comments,we had an OT report done for hubby and the chap gave his opinion that John really does need to be on the ground floor and we sent in the report along with Doctors report about his chest problems we can't have a lift installed as the stairs are external to the front door I think maybe someone has been on the waiting list longer than us may have pipped us at the post I am going to try and speak to someone to-morrow but they are very guarded when they speak to you, these bungalows are very sought after and just in the next Road to us so the location is ideal for family to stay in close touch and for us to stay within a community we are happy in,I worry that John will not try to go out as much if we don't get lucky soon and his quality of life would be affected if he stays indoors too much.

Wishing you good luck for the result Glam. How frustrating for you both. Perhaps better is to come, you never know. 😉
