    Hospital mistakes

I just heard last night from the DD of a former neighbour from where we lived before that her mother was having Brain surgery late last night , she's 65
6 weeks ago she had a nasty fall and wasn't recovering well she's couldn't walk as she had no balance wasn't able to do much for herself and had problems with her speech and terrible headaches , The hospital said she had had a stroke but she was literally getting worse so her husband took her to A&E yesterday morning and insisted on a scan , they admitted her immediately as they had found a massive bleed on her brain caused by the fall , she went down to theatre at 10.30 last night and they finished at 1.45 this morning , The good news is they think she will be back to normal quite quickly , They diagnosed the stroke on the symptoms alone no X ray or scan , when my Brother had his a few weeks ago it was the first thing they did was a scan , this was the same hospital so why they didn't scan her I have no idea , I'm waiting to hear from her DD how she's doing today

AGGIE 6 weeks she was like that even her Dr said it was a stroke because the hospital had said in a letter too him so he had no reason to question it , The family are just so relieved she's doing ok so far

When I had the latest fall, they dis a scan and found a small bleed but they gave me an injection of vit.B to reverse the affect of the warfarin and kept me under observation.

I would have thought any symptoms following a fall should be investigated with a scan.Poor lady it could have worked out really badly for her.Thank goodness she is on the mend now. I suppose it is the luck of the draw as to which doctor she saw initially but surely there are procedures to follow in any given circumstance.

The lady must have had a bleed if she hit her head in the fall why was that not checked, they can check it in the yes, kept shIning a torch in mine. I was with a friend who lost her husband about six months ago, they had both had a nasty virus, her husband became short of breath and so she rang the out of hours dept. they said they could hear him and that he was hyperventiling, the next day she called paramedics and they said the same. He became so I'll she called an ambulance and he passed away,, she thinks it was on the way but it causes a long delay if a person dies in the ambulance. Of course he had pneumonia, I think the time has come that the NHS is so stretched we have to speak up for ourselves and our loved ones

She is a very fit lady she rides her bike everywhere and is out and about all the time , it must have been awful for her , her husband had to hire a wheelchair to get her out ,They moved to a new house just down the road from us and we saw her every day going to her DD to help with the children , we hadn't seen her for a couple of weeks so I messaged her DD last night and that's when I found out , Her DD said today she feels much better now the headache as gone too

Oma - that must have been so frightening both for the lady and her husband. Thank goodness she's on the mend now, but I hope they ask why she did't have a scan immediately after her all.
