Celebrating all that is good about family!

I had a lovely surprise this afternoon. My stepdaughter (the one in Ely) sent me a delightful bunch of flowers which arrived an hour ago and have really brightened my day.

For 30 years I've managed to get along with my two stepdaughters with only a couple of minor glitches. I personally hold that as a Triumph It's not always easy, is it, to get along with a family which is already fully fledged and if you marry into that family, there are occasions where you don't see eye to eye! I think we've all tried hard in our ways to get along and accept each other. It's worked!

My SD sent them because as you know I am having a bit of a tough time lately and this is her way of saying, hang on in there. How very thoughtful and kind.

I'm taking a bit of a break from GRU for a few days which will help me to catch up with so much I have to accomplish between now and the end of August. It's child minding time for many of us and my lot will be all over us like a rash, except I shall have to hold them at bay a little bit more than usual while I get all my ducks in a row.

I'll keep abreast of all the posts even if I don't get time to come and comment. I'm on FB every day as I chat to my half sister in Melbourne on the chat facility there, and I know you'll all be just fine, and I'll do my best to pop in now and then.

Take care everyone and let's hope the sunshine comes back soon XXXX

What a lovely gesture Elisi I can understand the need to stand back a wee bit and take stock so to speak as August will also be a busy month for me as well as,we have to swap over all the shop stock to Autumn/Winter stock whilst cater for families getting their childrens school uniform sorted,I am one of the central hubs for replacement uniforms and we have to steam press everything that is brought in but it makes a massive difference to the families who struggle to provide the uniforms required as the items are so expensive when bought new, when we have finished with them they do look as good as new I might add so well done to my team for their great efforts,we also have awareness month in August which is to make the Charities name advertised and the work we do more prominent in my surrounding area so I need my running shoes on this month to say the least.

That was a lovely surprise Elisi, from your SD. I don't have any experience of step children, but some I know who have step family say things can be very fraught at times.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Elisi - I know you have an awful lot on your plate at the moment. We promise to behave ourselves! xx

What a lovely thoughtful gesture from your SD - it makes such a difference when you're feeling low and somebody is so thoughtful.

Qwerty - you certainly are very busy with the GCs, and you must look after your health. You know you can pop in any time, even if you do't feel like posting. Just take care of yourself. xx

Elisi,an unexpected gift is always cheering so those flowers must have given you a boost. It's lovely to know someone is thinking about you.
Qwerty,we completely understand how you feel. Sometimes it almost seems a chore to check in to Gransrus and respond. That sounds awful but I think you know what I mean. I really hope your holidays recharge you a bit and give you a chance to relax.((Hugs)) xx
