This will hopefully put off the threat of a transplant for more years . By then there might be some new treatments available. They are talking of using cells/stemcells from milk teeth. Trouble is, Rhys has lost and swollowed his two so far.

Good to hear that Rhys is doing so well. It must be very reassuring to have definite signs of improvement.

My friend's great nephew was born without functioning kidneys and has miraculously made it to his 4th birthday despite all the odds. His Dad is a match and all going well so far though the testing is amazingly thorough and has taken months. Even his big brother had counselling to ensure he understood and was happy for the surgery to go ahead. He's only nine so not sure what they would do if he said he wasn't happy. They've been told the surgery isn't likely to happen until the New Year.

Shem - I do hope your friend's great nephew can have his transplant as planned. It's it a miracle that he's able to have a transplant.

My mother was born with only one kidney and it served her well all her 84 years. In fact it was only discovered by accident when she was about 80.

OOh Shem I hope all goes well for your friends Nephew. At least Rhys is showing no signs of trouble yet, and it's his CP that makes him more tired, well we put it down to that. DD and his Daddy will get tested when the time comes, so will we if we're not too old by then. It depends when he has it done, whether it will mean more than one transplant, so might need to save the younger ones for later.
It's good to hear they look after the whole family.
