Nothing really awful, just a few 'things!
I bought a phone online. I want a sim free as I want to keep my contract and number having already changed it not too long ago. Phone arrived, it didn't take my sim card, only a micro sim. Phone returned. Seller said Please return the charger before we refund you. I told him there was no charger so I couldn't return it, please refund my full amount. Luckily he did.
I am still using my old phone.
Then I discovered that the cheque and booking form I sent to Cornwall hadn't arrived (it was posted last Thursday morning.) I hope each day it would arrive, but when by yesterday it hadn't I needed to do something about it. But as yesterday was spent on trains or in a theatre it wasn't feasible to get to the bank. Also I hoped it would arrive that day. It didn't
So, this morning I have been to my bank. Cancelled that cheque and transferred the amount the owner. As we booked less than 8 weeks ahead it was the full amount so quite alarming to have gone missing! I also worry slightly that if anyone has my booking form they have my address and dates we are away
Luckily we have someone staying here all but for the first 2 days we shall be away, but still
Yesterday we went to London. We had a lovely day and saw 'Matilda' at the Cambridge Theatre. It was fabulous, which is not a word I used often! I loved it and it had me quite tearful at the end, even though I full well knew the ending!
Our lovely day wasn't without incident however! Firstly we had decided to drive and park at the station, instead of going by bus as we usually do. I looked on the station website and read that if you parked after 9.30am (our train was 10.30) it was £7.50, instead of the usual £14 a full day. As our joint return bus fares are more than £7.50, not to mention driving being quicker and more convenient, we did just that. OH parked I got the parking ticket. As I arrived at the machine a couple of other people started to queue behind me. Knowing that people using that car park are often in a hurry to reach trains, I think it made me rush and not read everything. I put £7.50 in the machine, got the ticket glanced at it and put to in the car, we walked over the bridge to the station. Then I started thinking. I was sure I saw 11.55 on the ticket. Did it mean 5 to midnight? If so how odd why 5 to? Or was it 24 hour clock in which case it wasn't 5 to midnight but midday!!!!
By the time we were on the train I was totally convinced we would have a parking ticket when we got back to York. I made myself not spend all day thinking about it as there was nothing we could do, and it would spoil my day. It was on my mind though especially on the journey home. We go back to the car park, and there was no ticket!!!! I am still not totally convinced we won't get a fine, but OH says we would have a ticket on the car, so fingers crossed!
We left London on the 8pm train which takes just under 2 hours. We weren't given a platform for ages, so we were hanging about on Kings Cross. When we boarded they apologised and said the train had a fault which they had to repair! We set off 15 minutes late, allowing for the less able to board. We went along very s-l-o-w-l-y, with lots of creaks. Eventually we stopped near Stevenage, were told the train was broken again and we would manage to get into Stevenage station, and all get off and wait for the next train. All off, more standing about on another station!!
Eventually we all managed to find seats on the next train from London, and arrived back. As we were so late we will all get our fare refunded which is something at least!
Hopefully all will go smoothly now for me, for a while at least!
