This has been a busy day. Not all went according to plan. The scheduling of the coaches with the children went completely t&ts up when the first arrival was an hour late after breaking down, this meant that the second coach arrived at the same time and so did the third. The reception room was full of kids and wheelchairs, it was almost chaos. The accommodation allocation system went wrong as well (new managers) so there were a lot of on the hoof changes. Also a couple of the boroughs brought along children they hadn't registered which meant we did not have appropriate paperwork or information about them. After we had got them all into their dorms/rooms I spent almost an hour doing extra certificates and IDs.
I did not have dinner tonight which doesn't matter as I had a large lunch and now they are all in the main sports hall doing street dance. I was there for about 45 minutes but I am very tired and my feet hurt so I have come back to our room.
Tomorrow is the first day of sports. We have had some drop outs (volunteers! so I am going to have to reallocate some people. We have, unusually, had two major complaints, one about the boys from one borough tearing up and down outside the girls dorms shouting and swearing and the second about a boy relieving himself against an outside wall. We know what borough the shouters were from but not who the other one was so there is going to be a stern talk with the borough leads tomorrow.
Deep breath, wait for husband to come and rub my feet then it will be off to the dorms to make sure the little beggars get into bed. I think we have a herd of elephants in the room upstairs, hopefully when they come back in from dancing they will be worn out and not (do what I think was) jumping off the beds!
