At work today, and I learnt the friday and weekend cook is unwell with a heavy cold. I just knew my boss would ask me to cover for her. I had already made plans for Friday, shopping and lunch with T. Sunday is Mothers day lunch out at J's, free Saturday at the moment but I was adamant I wasn't going to be pressurised to work. Boss approaches my desk all smiles, I knew what was coming and when she asked I said sorry I have made firm plans and I'm not leaving my daughter high and dry, besides I'd made these plans over a week ago. I admit I continued acting as though I was reading a file that was on my desk, as if I made eye contact she would have tried to push her point. Must admit I and hubs was chuffed for once I stood my ground and wasn't going to be coerced into changing my mind. She approached the 4 day cook and asked her the same, but she has a Doctors apptmt friday and the boss said can't you phone and change it. Cook said no your joking it took me 2 weeks to get this one. Did hate the distinct change in atmosphere once she realised I wasn't backing down, my boss has a very "persuasive" manner and doesn't like being thwarted. She also argued there were no decent agencies now, guess who googledand found a very good one not more than 30 minutes from where we work. Truth be told they don't want to pay agency rates, well tough toodle this lady is not for turning.
