Gem - I'm sure GD will cope ok, but disappointing for all of you.

I know first hand the problems of students being out of college at crucial times, but even so, I think the current guidelines to heads have a draconian effect. I feel really sorry for those parents who, for whatever reason can't get time off work in school holidays. Surely sensible parents are the best people to judge whether their son or daughter would gain more benefit from, say, going to a 20 week scan, or doing whatever activity is taking place in school at that moment. I know not all parents are sensible! The only time my GS2 and family can go away together is in January, but now GD1 is at school they can't. Last year they closed the shop for 2 days over the August Bank Holiday for a short break on the Isle of Wight, but a whole week off would do them so much good! Sorry, I'm on my soapbox!

Dont feel bad Gem, i am sure GD will be fine, she will be far too excited to hear about it, i am sure....

My lot went to the scan with latest GS, i think the nurse (cant remember what there called who does it... ) was quite suprised when 5 little faces were all trying to get around the screen, but they loved it, hope your GD gets a chance too...

I was there when T was born but have only seem pictures of scans never the real thing, so your a lucky Grandma indeed....

I am thrilled to be going, I have always wanted to be there. However I would much prefer GD to be there, and if it were a matter of swapping I would. If I were her mum she wouldn't be going to school, but there you are!
I think I may get little blue and pink teddies, and give DD the appropriate one to show to GD once she comes out of school I'm working that afternoon so can't do it myself,

Well, scan day was today. The person doing the scan was one of my closest friends, in fact she was one of the witnesses at our wedding. It was so nice to have her there, with DD, SIL and me.
We saw every little bit of baby, even to the fingers, lips, aortic valves etc! All looking good and baby was very active!

I clung onto the little bit of hope that Qwerty would be right and I would have another granddaughter. But, no, we are having another boy! GD was very very keen to have a sister at first, but during the last week or so she and her parents all came to the conclusion that it would be a boy ,for some reason, so I doubt she will be at all disappointed,
We got some lovely photos, so I think she will be thrilled to come home from school and see her baby brothers pics

How wonderful to hear that baby is picture perfect and already practising his football skills. I'm quite sure GD will be over the moon to be big sister and cousin to two little boys. 😘😘😘

I'm not sorry we are having a boy, as much as sad we are not having a girl, if that makes any sense?!
Although very happy that all is well with our little one, and looking forward to his arrival

Gem - are you trying to say that you wish your DD was having twins!!!

Seriously, I know what you mean (I think). You are a 'girl' family - that's kind of what you expect, and I remember when you knew GS1 was on the way you were a bit surprised. I was the same with boys - I always expected the baby to be a boy, and was very surprised when two girlies arrived. We didn't know what any of them were going to be until they were born!
