    Another 'Thomas' trip!

OH, little E and I are going to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor!

We will be staying overnight at the hotel there. The hotel rate includes a family room with 2 double beds, breakfast, parking and 2 park days. Amazing value for just over £200.

We will explore Thomas Land on day 1. On the second day we will go to the little zoo there, and maybe a bit of the remaining park suited to little ones. We will see how we all feel.
Little E will love it. He has never stayed in a hotel, so that in itself will be an adventure

We wanted to go before the school summer holidays, so we are going the week before. Midweek, so hopefully not too busy.

With over 25 rides and attractions, there's so much for Thomas fans to explore on The Island of Sodor at Drayton Manor.

Gem, what a lovely treat for Little E, and I suspect you and S will enjoy it as well. It's so lovely to take our GCs to somewhere for the first time.

It sounds like an excellent bargain, too.

Well, what a lovely successful little trip that was

We picked up E on Wednesday morning, drove just over 2 hours and went to the hotel for our park passes. Luckily although it was only midday our rooms were ready (officially ready at 3,30) So we went to the room, to use the loo and show E the room.

The hotel was lovely, with a lot of 'Thomas' themed detail. Little E spent a lot of time pressing the button to make the carousel go round every time we passed through reception
We had a ground floor room, which was perfect as it was so hot whilst we were there but we hardly needed it use the aircon at all.
He remarked several times when we were there that there was no living room . He has mainly stayed in cottages etc up to now.
We had bought a packed lunch with us, so we sat in the hotel garden, ate that then headed for the park.

We had to walk through some of the main park to reach Thomas Land. The rest of the park was fairly busy and noisy due to several secondary school parties. Noisy, huge, excited teenagers on school trips!
Thomas Land was a different world, lovely and peaceful as teenagers not allowed in! There are lots of rides, a show, a cafe, so much to see and do. Perfect for little Thomas fans.

E loved all the rides and was up for everything! The Fat Controller sang him Happy Birthday for next week and chatted to us. E liked that but didn't want his photo taken with him though
The park closes 4 , which OH and I were glad about! The heat and walking about after an early start had tired us out. Back to the hotel, a cuppa and rest for us and E played with his trains and had a snack.
I was very hot so took a shower.
We ate at the hotel at 6pm. Typical pub grub type fare, nothing special but not awful!
Then after a little more play and some Cbeebies I got E ready for bed, read his stories, sang his bedtime songs and settled him down. He had had a bath at home that morning so we didn't need to do that.
OH was watching the England match with no sound, I read my Kindle, we closed the curtains and put E's night light on and in no time he was asleep. He slept until 7.30am . He's little star.

Next morning after breakfast we checked out of the hotel and went back into the park. My plan has been a little more time in Thomas Land then a ride on the Thomas train which takes you to the zoo, then maybe back to Thomas Land for a short time. Little E was very keen to go the Thomas ride, then immediately waned to go back to Thomas Land once we got off. I tried to persuade him the zoo and dinoland area were a good idea, but he really just wanted to get back to the Thomas themed rides! It was his treat so of course we agreed
Back on the nice cool train for few minutes and back into Thomas Land. Many more rides!
A great time was had, and a very happy and tired little boy was put into the car at 4, and was asleep within minutes, waking just before we got him home.
We definitely have a future theme park fan on our hands

We left him playing the Troublesome Trucks rollercoaster with mummy and daddy on the sofa.
Some trips work out as well as you hoped. This one did, and beyond.
Happy and grateful to have lovely little boy to spend time with and to be trusted to take him.

Gem, what a wonderful treat for Little E, and great that you also loved that he loved it. I bet his little face ached with smiling and laughing, and no wonder he slept so well. You and S are great to take him for such a special little holiday.

I hope you weren't too exhausted yourselves. xx
