Took gs (4) on Saturday weather was good not as many people as we thought just saw 2 hen does shopping centre & sea front very impressive apart from that it looks very very tired when you get away from town centre though some building work going on any way it was his first time here so we thought we would go to pleasure beach when we got there it was £24 (£9 each oh & me £6 for gs) to get in then we had to buy tickets for the rides inside so just had a few rides in the amusements & games then got the tram should have got later one as it looked like a boat to see the lights was a long day but he enjoyed it both me & oh said we wont be going back any time soon

We were just saying to our friends yesterday that we had never been to the Blackpool lights!
It does sound expensive gm2aj. At least little GS enjoyed it

When I was a child I used to go to see the lights every year. They were on for a much shorter time then, and I thought it was magical! We'd go to see the Blackpool Tower circus, and at the end the circus ring would sink down and flood and cascades of water would be lit up. As far as I remember the Pleasure Beach was free to go in but you had to pay for each individual ride - I imagine they're much more sophisticated now, but i loved the Big Dipper and the Big Wheel. We always stayed in a boarding house on the south shore and would walk the length of the prom looking at the lights and get the tram back.
It's sad to see how Blackpool has gone downhill so much, but hopefully it will improve again, and granma2aj I'm sure your GSs had a wonderful time and will only remember the exciting bits. I bet you and your OH were exhausted, though.

We went a few years ago with eldest g/d a much improved prom but behind the front bit it’s appalling , I wouldn’t go again , and your right Granma 2 we got a shock paying to just get in to the pleasure Beach and now it’s all token rides that you gave to pay for well in advance and massively expensive I feel sorry for those with little money and a few children it’s rip off time there

Oh Daisy that takes me back. I remember the circus & the water. That was a very distant memory from a very long time ago. We laughed because a lion faced it's rear end towards the audience & peed through the cage.😨🤣 We stayed in a B&B too. I got my favourite doll there...Esmerelda.
Has anyone heard of a place in Blackpool that's similar to Centre Parks? Heard it's good but half the price.
Granma2 it seems an expensive day out. Glad you all enjoyed your day.
