    Remote controlled cars

My GS, who will be 5 next month was intrigued by a little boys car in the park over the summer. The boy went to GS preschool, so they knew each other, and he kindly let GS play with it.
I have decided to buy him one for his birthday.
Has anyone bought one for a child of this age? Do you have any recommendations, or warning off?!

My boys had them but they were a bit older than your GS.If E has had a turn on one and you get one that is simple and straightforward I think it would be a lovely present.

He is a very advanced 5 year old, so perhaps it is a good present as long as you are prepared to keep taking him to where he can drive it.

My Boys both had them , I would say the simpler the better some are complicated to many buttons , but if they can control a video game I suppose they can control these too , O was fascinated by the one we bought for him as it had lights that worked and a horn , J wasn't as interested in the lights he loved the ones with big wheels he could make jump over ramps

Both of ours had them when they were little, although they are probably a bit more advanced now(the cars).
i think it would be a lovely present for your GS.

What a lovely present, and I'm sure he'll love it - I seem to remember he's a bit of a petrol head.

Our DSs had them. DS2 was really keen to race his as fast as possible, while DS1 enjoyed repairing them when DS2 has crashed. If your GS is like my DS2, I'd go for the sturdiest model you can find, with reliable controls.

                Thanks for your input everyone

I found one in the ELC 50% off sale.

£50, reduced to £25, bargain! It looks robust and is for ages 5 to 8, so ideal for GS's birthday!
I have heard these things eat batteries, and this needs 7!! I will put 7 batteries in it and enclose another pack of 7. After that it's up to DD and SIL!
