    surprise birthday present...

It is OH's 50th birthday next week, so trying to think of something for his birthday, he is so hard to buy for, what do you buy a man who has everything....

Of course we have been asking him if there is anything he would like, he said a night out with his family, easy peasy, so put a few things together, nothing special, i did want to put a monkey sort of hamper together off the grandchildren, as they call him "monkey" grandad, so got him these lovely 3 wise monkeys so was just going to add to that,

Also we have all booked a weekend away to a cottage, he has no idea, but it is me, kids and grandkids, all of us under one roof, that will be fun.... there is a hot tub, dont know what i will wear... anyway i wanted to put a present together with bits and pieces to make it look a bit special, i will print off all the cottage info, but just dont know what to put with it, anyone got any ideas...

Isn't it awful when you dont know what to get, i hate buying pressies i know will just go to the back of a drawer/wardrobe etc...OH had called into his mams last week and she sent a box of chocolates around for me as a treat she said, dont think she realised i had bought her them, still had the christmas bow on...

Why don't you find a really nice box or tin - there are a lot on web sites like "Not on the High Street" and put all the information in there with confetti type stuff or tissue paper?

I put nice food treats in for them Pearl, which went down well. Most men seem to like food

Oh yes Gem, I got some really nice boxes from TK Max for the children's Christmas Eve boxes last year. Only problem was they were in Clapham TK Max and that is 35 minute train journey and I had loads of other stuff, I had to take up two seats on the train!

I'm doing that for the men this year I stole Gems idea , I have bought a few small things like the chocolates or sweets they like ,for SIL and his Dad I bought bottles of Real ale also a mug and put little mini bottles of Whisky and Port in them , 😊 I intend putting lots of small gifts in as I go along till they are full , it's so hard buying for men isn't it

Pearl - the week-end away is a lovely idea. I think I'd add a pair of Speedos for the hot tub!!!

Daisy, when DD2 and their friends went to France recently, the ruling was the men had to wear speedo type trunks in the pool!!! My SIL, his friend and friends 7 year old son all had to get some!!

oh no, no speedos allowed haha....

we gave OH his presents, then we gave him his envelope with the cottage idea including pictures and we had done our own personal messages, DD printed them out and made a lovely presentation... we said to him he would either love it or hate it, when opened it he was very quiet we were looking waiting for a response, making jokes saying its not that bad is it....he couldn't speak lol first time every he was speechless, (sure there was something in his eye..) said he couldn't think of a better present and was over- whelmed, said he didn't expect it, mind the personal messages he got were very close to there hearts,...so one happy man...
