walking on your travels...with comfy footwear

Hi ladies, i know there are a few of you on here who like walking, OH loves it, makes him feel "free" he said and just lets you escape...

So we now have one of those NationalTrust card where you pay an annual fee and can get into all these nice places...

Today we went to Cragside House and Gardens, about an hours drive away, I loved it was the first home in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity and was home to Lord and Lady Armstrong, to think all this is near by, it was brilliant walking the grounds, etc..

So all you lovely ladies who do walking, just seeing if anyone can recommend a good pair of walking shoes, dont want to pay a high fortune, but have been looking on line and dont know what to get, i was looking at the Mary Jane type, dont want the full lace up shoes, i have them and i dont find them comfortable....any recommendations would be great...

I saw on FB but that you had been there, but I didn't reply as it was your OHs post!
I love Cragside, only been once but will definitely go back.

I am big fan of Sketchers shoes Pearl, really comfy and many styles and colours to chose from.
    Reiker are also very comfortable.

Do you have a Brantano near you Pearl? Ours has sadly closed down If so they often have Sketchers at cheaper prices.

If you find something online in Brantano you can Click and Collect, then you often have more choice. I used to do that quite a bit.

Well I have to announce that lots of walking is not for me unless we are on holiday when I will wear trainers. Also that after almost 18 months I am actually back in high heels! Not the highest ones but high enough to make me happy.

Over the past few years, my back problems (I have scoliosis) have got worse. Comfortable supportive shoes are now a must if I am to walk any distance at all and not be in pain. That is why I am so well informed!
Zizi, I am glad I was never a 'heels' girl, even in my youth, so that is one thing I don't have to worry about giving up

Tizzy i was anti walking too, until a few weeks ago when OH took me to this beautiful waterfall on our Anniversary, mind i was hoping to see it from the car park but had to walk a little, i really enjoyed it once i started, then today, i enjoyed it, going around the house, and the walk was just around the gardens but it was huge, and a lot of walking up and down on uneven ground, the views were breath taking, sat on the grounds and had a coffee and set off again, to the country pub for a pub lunch, now home kicked our shoes off and doing nothing...

Gem my hip hurts too, i know its curving so need to get it looked at after awhile i am in real pain with it, so no high shoes, the ones i have now have about a 11/2 heel sandal which i can bear, but a few weeks ago we were at a wedding and i needed heels so got a pair from M&S with insole included, very modern but they will only come out special occassions...

Pleased to hear you are enjoying your NT. Membership Pearl, my OH used ours a lot, we visited the local ones just to enjoy the gardens and a cup of tea.

Oh, how I wish I could wear heels again after all this time my my knees! I used to love them but not how they wear them today! Never that high and never all day! It's flats for me and that's Ok but when I go out (chance would be a fine thing lately) I would love to put on a glam pair of heels again!
