Thank you all so much for the kind wishes mummy daddy and baby will be home later to-day after what was a long tiring labour for mum, being at home at least she can rest in peace as there where a lot of people wanting to visit,(why can't people wait for mum to rest properly) of course DD went and reported a perfect and beautiful little girl but my DD said she felt she could only stay 15-20 mins as cousins and aunties etc wanted to visit,I have decided to wait until next week when things have calmed down and they have some sort of routine they must feel overwhelmed poor things.( gives me more time for pinky things shopping) lol.xxx

I agree Glamm, years ago it used to be fathers only for the first day, new mothers need their rest and a quiet time to bond with their newborn.

Glamm - I'm sure the new mummy and daddy will be glad of a bit of peace and quiet from visitors for a few days, although you must be dying for your first cuddle. Where was she born? I had my first baby in Clatterbridge.

Thinking back, visiting was very strictly controlled way back then - No more than 2 or 3 at a time, and strict visiting hours. It gave you a chance to get to know your baby and get some rest, especially for a first baby.

Daisy Sofia was born at Arrow Park Maternity Unit its the main mum & baby unit over this side now after that its Liverpool Womens, mine where born in St Catherines and Highfield,Highfield was a lovely little maternity home all private rooms opening up onto gardens you where very lucky to get booked in there I can tell you,I was lucky to be friends with the local midwife (its who you know) lol
it has long gone now and is a walk in out of hours unit.
I am surprised the staff let so many people in yesterday as the main hospital is closed to visitors due to an out break of novovirus and visiting is restricted you would think people would be senseable and stay at home.

Congratulations to you all. Such an exciting time for your family. Hopefully things will settle down and it won't be too long before you get to meet Daisy Sofia.

Glamm - you must have been relieved everything went smoothly - and Arrow Park sounds lovely. It was still the old Victorian hospital at Clatterbridge when DS1 was born - but the care was fantastic. You'd think people would think about possibly passing nasty infections on, wouldn't you. There was norovirus in the hospital when GD2 was born and no-one at all was allowed to visit except dads - not even siblings.

How did their first night at home go? I hope mum and dad managed to get some sleep.

Daisy, The first couple of nights have gone very well she is sleeping well between feeds and changes so hopefully a nice routine is being set,I am going to visit next week whilst on holiday from work I can't wait my cuddle instincts are on high alert lol,mum was finding it hard to get milk through so they have changed to bottle feeding and she is taking it well, according to DD she is a chunky wee thing and is a lovely contented little girl so lets hope it lasts for the parents. Thanks to everyone for all the kind wishes. xxx

Glamm - that's good news. We all know babies have their own agenda and their feed/sleep patterns change, but it's a great start when you can get a few nights of reasonable sleep. She sounds absolutely scrummy! Enjoy your cuddles next week.

I hope mummy is feellng well. Those early days ( and nights!) are so tiring, especially when you are a young mum.

Glamm - she's a cutie. I love her little frown - it looks as though she'c concentrating really hard on getting her beauty sleep.

Plant DD is over the moon but she is having some problems with her "step mother" the lady who wouldn't let her go to her fathers funeral if you remember this lady whilst she is not a relative as such is being very difficult regarding my DD so we are walking on eggshells once again I have told DD to ignore her and not respond she will soon tire of her nastiness I can't believe how awful the woman is at such a happy family time, maybe I will have to intervene but really don't want to do that just yet.
