pearl, with both my dils I bought them jewellery. For both for the boys I bought a silver chain with a cubic zirconia on. Cost about £50 from Debenhams. Bought a matching pair of earrings for dil when Sadie was born.

I do have to say I am green with envy. I so wish I could have another grandchild. sadly I don't think it is to be.

Does she have a Pandora bracelet, or more affordable, a Trollbeads one. There's a huge choice at all sorts of prices:

Official Trollbeads UK. Discover handcrafted Trollbeads jewellery, from unique beads and charms to bracelets and necklaces. Personalise your style with Trollbeads, established in 1976.

It's something she could add to as the milestones happen. Other thoughts - some really nice pamper products, a promise to babysit as soon as she is able to leave the little one for a few hours so mum and your DS can go out for an evening, something for their new house, the baby's hand/foot print.
